“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."

“Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.”

“Small is the number of people who see with their eyes and think with their minds.

I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

9TH GRADE PROJECTS

Picture
In the course of this year, we have done several projects in which we have applied what we have learned throughout the year. We learned about new techniques and how to apply them in various projects. We used new materials such as water colors ( water color pencils as well) and blending sticks. With new materials, new techniques emerged as well. We learned how to make realistic faces, and we learned several techniques for water colors that created specific effects in the paper. Each of these projects have all taught me lots of things when it comes to art, and they have helped my imagination to grow and expand. I hope I do more projects like these in the future, since they have made this year much more enjoyable.

map

Picture
This task was about creating a map that represented who I was. It needed to include personal things, such as family, hobbies, my future and my past. This map was a very fun project to do, we got to be creative and do whatever we wanted as long as it represented who we were. Another fun aspect of this project, was that we worked with water colors. It was the first time I used them on a project, and it was a messy, hard task. The colors would drip and mix and accidents happened a lot. All in all, I enjoyed making this map, because it was challenging, but fun.

HALF-PORTRAIT

Picture
In this project, a picture of ourselves was taken. We cut the picture in half, pasted it on a cardboard and drew the missing side. It was hard to do since we had never really drawn a realistic face, and the challenging thing was that it needed to look like it belonged to the picture. In the picture my tongue was sticking out and my eyes were shut. This made me think that I was not going to be able to do a good job, but It came out alright after erasing and erasing over and over again.  Even though it was a hard task, I enjoyed doing it because it was a different job than what we were used to do, and I learned that things get done the way you want them to eventually.

Faces

These drawings are all simple marker stroked face drawings that represent different types of people.
  • The red picture, represents the tired, workaholic-stressed people. The red color represents ambition. The heavy and bold eyes represent that they only believe in what they see, in the results of good work.
  • The green picture, shows the snobby, rich envious type. The green represents envy, and the small unnoticeable eyes represent lack of soul.
  • The purple image, shows a mean wicked person. The crazy eyes, the purple color and the sinister smile represent an out of the ordinary personality.
  • The gray picture, shows a face similar to a zombie. These are the forgotten, old people who have nothing to live for.
  • The last image, is a simple and regular person. Who appears to be smiling for no reason, has nothing to hide. Or so it seems.
